Was it paid for the first night of my booking?2023-03-29T11:00:18+02:00

Once you complete your reservation, our system carries out a pre-authorization equal to the cost of 1 night of the room/s booked by you. The amount will be released from your credit card from 9 to 14 days later, in line with the terms of condition of the  credit card used by you for you reservation.

Is there a penalty in case of early departure compared to the reservation?2022-05-20T09:58:15+02:00

Yes, there is a maximum penalty of 2 nights based on the booking.

Example: reservation for 7 nights: if you leave in the morning of the third night, the third night and the fourth night will be charged.

There are many restaurants and pizzeria close to our Hotel. Many of them also reachable on foot.
Pleas ask reception for any kind of advice or help to book a table.

How can I reach the Train Station/Airport/Harbour?2022-03-31T12:42:10+02:00

You can reach the train station by bus (Lam blu line) or by taxi.
While for the Livorno Harbour and the Pisa Airport we suggest you to book a taxi through our reception if you do not have a car.

Hw much is the tourist tax?2022-03-31T12:42:44+02:00

The tourist tax required by Livorno’s city hall for a three star hotel such as ours is:
from October to March: 1.5€ per person per night for maximum 4 nights
from April to September: 2.3€ per person per night for maximum 4 night
children under 14 and residents are not required the payment of the Tourist Tax.

There is a bus stop at 200 meters from us which is served from one of the main bus lines of the city:
the Lam Blu Line which reaches the town center and the train station.
To return to the Hotel please make sure you take the Lam Blu Bus which ends at Miramare since there is another Lam Blu line that takes a different route.

We have plenty equipment such as projector, slide control, microphones, ect.

We have 2 meeting rooms:
The Tea Room for maximum 24 persons and the Joseph room for maximum 70 persons.

We have a storage room for bicycles (max 4). This service has a cost of 5€ per night.

Car park is included in the price of the bedroom. The hotel features a open air, non guarded car park. The gate opens at 7 AM and closes at midnight. Our guest will receive istructions out to leave and enter the car park once closed during check in.

There is a public beach of pebbles mixed to sand at less than 400 meters. There are other public beaches easily reachable by foot. Please note that Livorno’s coast is mainly of rocks. If you prefer sandy beaches there are options such as Calambrone, Tirrenia and Rosignano Solvay reachable by car.

We provide a towels for the swimming poll for free. Please ask for your towels at the reception.

The hotel features an open air seasonal swimming pool included in the rooms price. We usually open our pool in June and close it around Semptember. The use is restricted to our hotel guests and children must not be left unattended. Please respect all guests relax during the use of our swimming pool.

We allow free cancelation till 2 days before your arrival.
If you cancel your reservation within 2 days before your arrival, you will be charged 1 night penalty fee.
Example: Reservation for the 4th of January
Free cancellation until the 1st of January
1 Night penalty fee if canceled from the 2nd of January.

We do not have connected bedrooms. Our hotel is situated in an end of 1800 building and during our renovation we intended to keep the original design. If possible, we will be happy to assign rooms next to one another. Please signal this in phase of reservation.

Can my child sleep in the double bed with me?2022-03-29T17:30:00+02:00

We allow children up to 4 years old to sleep in the double bed with their parents. Due to Italian Tourism law we can allow this in all rooms but not the economy double room due to the size of the bedroom.

If you need to leave the hotel before 7 am please ask reception at check in so that you have all the information you need to leave the hotel according to you schedule.

Breakfast is served from Monday to Saturday from 7 AM to 10 AM while Sundays from 8 AM to 10 AM. If you leave before normal breakfast service please ask reception for our early breakfast options.

Is the Hotel easily accessible with a wheelchair?2023-05-30T12:44:55+02:00

We made our Hotel accessible during our 2014 renovation. We feature a Comfort double room and an Economy double room accessible to wheel chairs. Since the hotel is based in an ‘800 villa, we are allowed some exception on EU and Italian accessible requirements. Please contact our reception for any other information.

Italy has a “Smoke Free” law in place which prohibits smoking in workplaces, cars and limited public spaces. For this reason, smoking is not allowed in any part of the hotel, including the rooms. We recommend smoking outdoors.

Pets are welcome at Hotel Universal. We require an extra of 5 € per night per pet. For the comfort and safety of our guests we please ask to not leave any pet unattended during your stay.

All our rooms include complimentary toiletries for your use throughout your stay. These include Shower Gel, Body Lotion and a bar of soap.

Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult staying in the same room. The hotel does have family rooms and cots available to accommodate extra guests. If you would like to add an extra bed, please call our reservations team on (+39) 0586500398 who can assist in choosing an available room.

Requests for specific views, rooms and floors can be detailed at time of booking or by calling reservations on (+39) 0586500398, and although we do our best to accommodate, these requests are not guaranteed to be fulfilled due to the availability of rooms.

If you would like to amend or cancel your booking please check your cancellation terms which can be found on your email confirmation, amendments may be subject to a charge. Any amendments or enquiries can be made by emailing our reservations teams or (+39) 0586500398.

If you have booked through a third party such as Expedia or Booking.com please contact them directly to make cancellations or amendments.

Our website booking engine is the best way to search for live availability and up to date prices. You can search for the dates you have in mind and if there is no availability, a calendar view is offered to help you find the closest dates or alternate properties available.

We guarantee check in from 3 pm. In case you wish to use your bedroom before check in time, we suggest you to book the room also for the night before your arrival so that the room will be available from 7 am in te morning. We also offer luggage storage so if you arrive before your room is ready, you can leave your bags at reception and head out for the day. This also applies if you would like to leave luggage after check-out and collect later in the day. Unfortunately, due to availability, we can’t guarantee an early check-in.

Reception is open from 7 AM to 12 PM. We are reachable by phone 24 hours a day.

Can I leave my luggage at the Hotel prior to check-in and following check-out?2022-03-31T12:41:37+02:00

We offer luggage storage so if you arrive before your room is ready, you can leave your bags at reception and head out for the day. This also applies if you would like to leave luggage after check-out and collect later in the day.
